Hard Hat Update

Construction News
for September 5 - 12, 2007

Repainting the Hearth Room is well underway.

Repainting the Hearth Room is well underway.

Hi Everyone!
Despite the heat, things are in full swing here in the construction village. Whenever I hear some noises or get computer fatigue, I wander through the site with my camera and see what's up. The workers wondered what I was doing at first, but they're used to me now.

Tuesday FUS treated all our workers (including staff) to a box lunch. In contrast to many remodeling stories, our work has proceeded with diligence and commitment. Post construction cleaning started September 5, and the Nursery School moves in over the weekend. The offices are plastered, and the Loggia is beginning to be prepared for plastering next week. The new office furniture is ready to install as soon as the area is ready.  We are looking forward fondly to moving back inside.
Auditorium
The ceiling is painted. We are waiting for the new light rings and bulbs, and then we can say goodbye to the lift. The Hearth Room is being plastered, gets painted next week.

D Wing
The hole just keeps getting bigger!  The holes in the B wing wall that will be hallway openings are being cut through the concrete. Look for a sample of the board formed concrete that will be our new wall texture.  Don’t be discouraged by the bubbles in it’s surface…it’s just a sample.

Volunteer

We have more stones to chip! Saturday at 9.  The Meeting House nursery school will be moving into the newly renovated B-wing this Saturday. (It is so cool!) Five FUS Members have volunteered to lend a hand with that project, thank you very much! We’re hoping five more members can join the “toy hauler” crew.  If you can please reply to Connie Weisner cwiesner@charter.net.  Every little bit helps!
