Architect Vince Micha snaps a photo as the concrete pours for the big wall. His (fairly exact) words were "This is BIG moment!"

Hi Everyone!
Things are interesting here. A large machine is compacting the sand around the footings of the West Courtyard. It's hard to describe, but there is this low moaning, and the whole Meeting House buzzes a like a cell phone on vibrate. A little disconcerting!
Server problems made this a day late - stay tuned for the Red Floors tomorrow. Too much FUS news? Opt out by dropping me a reply. Need more? Are you crazy? And now here's Dave Weber with the pithy Hard Hat news....

Things seem a little calmer this week. I am in my new office in the Vonnegut trailer. Dan Broner and I are the residual trailer crew. It’s cool today, perfect concrete weather.

Renovation
The Staff is almost settled in their offices, and Tom Miskelly is working steadily to restore the details. We hung the Japanese prints on Saturday, and it made a huge difference. We are still waiting for air grills, and of course, the light rings.

More concete! More concrete!

More concete! More concrete!

New Building
Every day there is visible progress. Yesterday we poured the first 60 feet of the retaining wall, and the crew is already taking down the forms to start the next section. As soon as the concrete cures to sufficient strength, they will backfill and get more room for storing materials. The cedar for the board-formed surface was quite beautiful.
Bill Wartmann has donated a sculpture of children dancing, which we will put in the West Courtyard. It is heavy, and will need a good footing to keep it stable. The architect and landscaper are scurrying to exactly define the location so we can pour one.

Fire Lane
The “Fire Lane” is serious. A fire truck needs a 20-foot wide path to get to the B Wing. Please do not park in the area along the front of the Meeting House. It is marked "fire lane" for a very good reason. Thanks!
