Ice has come to the trailers...
Greeting from the white floors!
Winter is upon us. The good news is that Ol’ Ms. Winter fixed the bothersome hasp outside my door that rattled in the wind. (See top picture.)
I get questions about whether the project is on schedule, and all I can say is, ”It’s too soon to tell.” The storms of the past days have caused a jump in the schedule. Last month the plan was to get as much floor as possible done before the snow flies. Now that snow has flown, pouring floors has been deferred and the action shifts to the roof. The first shipment of Glu-lam beams is due next Wednesday.
The crew is busy planning more work on the connection between the B and D wings, hoping to get as much as possible accomplished during the Nursery School’s Winter Break. They need to support the upper structure while they remove a girder and some more concrete wall.

The Glu-Lam beams are being manufactured in Northern Wisconsin.
The east wall of the auditorium was poured last week, but it will have two inches of Styrofoam sandwiched in the center for insulation and vapor barrier.
The Forum
Sunday’s Forum was very successful, both in fellowship, and in honest sharing We shared ideas about our new space. We expect to hold many more events, some in smaller groups, as our community get ready for the next adventure.
The Dumpsters
The dumpsters inside the construction fence are crucial to our recycling program. Specifically the one closest to the fence is “Wood Only.” When someone from FUS erroneously throws some of our trash in it, Skip from Findorff has to dive in among the nails and splinters to retrieve the bag. We don’t want that.
