Greetings!
There’s no action today; it’s too cold. Our crew is tough, but below 10 degrees Fahrenheit the time needed to warm up increases exponentially. On the plus side, it’s beautifully sunny. The job is on schedule, and Findorff has assigned us three additional carpenters.
Sidewalk Superintending
The first layer of decking is on the classroom area, so the visible open area is the West Courtyard. All the first floor beams are in, and you can see the edge of the upper crossing. The tan bracket will anchor the second floor pine columns.
Out of Sight
The base plywood sheets for the Plaza Deck are going in. This is the area between the retaining wall and the Upper Crossing. (top photo) It will be surfaced with stepping stones and several gravel textures above multiple layers of sealant and insulation. The Fire Protection crew is back; they started installing sprinkler pipes on Tuesday. They will be able to curve the pipes to follow the arcs of the lines of beams.
Next Week
Look for wall framing, columns and beams on the second floor.

The Plaza deck is going in. the Plaza is the area between the retaining wall (grey wall) and the Upper Crossing. |

These beams are forming the base of the Upper Crossing. Soon it will sprout posts and a roof will ride above them with glass walls. |

Beams await placement in the Upper Crossing.
