Looking back at the prow of the historic Auditorium from the soon-to-be-green roof

Greetings!
The sun is out, and the path to the west door is “mudluscious” with tiny boot prints. The building is beautiful surrounded by the blue sky.

Sidewalk Superintending
The roof decking, yellow pine with plywood on top, will be done today.  The next layer is insulation, with some framing at the edges to create a taper. All that gets topped by the “membrane.” We get a LEED point for the membrane’s light, reflective color. Here is a scrap of it on the materials table by the west door.
The roof is complete in the classroom area. The tan color that you see is the finished product. Check out the view from Marshall Court.

Out of Sight
The green roof company has started sedum plants to be delivered in June.Klein-Dickert has taken measurements for the west courtyard windows and has started production. They should be delivered in three weeks. Ductwork is going in, electrical and sprinkler pipes are appearing.

Next Week
Geothermal drilling starts in the parking lot. They will be inside the fence by weekend services.  Fortunately the Nursery School will be on break. It’s time for the big crane to go, probably March 21. We will bring back cranes as we need them to lift things into the west courtyard. The roofers will start on the Auditorium, the carpenters will complete the upper crossing decking. The temporary ceiling in the Lower B-Wing will be replaced with permanent drywall.

Standing in the balcony of the new Auditorium, we cansee the Historic Meeting House. This visual connection pervades the new addition.

Looking north from the roof of new Auditorium, we can see the nearly complete, light colored roof of Education Hall. The copper roof of the upper B-wing (now staff offices) is in the middle distance.
