Greetings! The sun is out and the thaw is upon us. Our sandy soil drains exceedingly well, but it is still too muddy to tour. Maybe next week.Roof! Roof! No, those red flags don’t mean we’re selling cars, they are there to remind the workers where the edge is. I think they add an air of festivity to the Spring thaw. The roof gets three layers of three inch Styrofoam, for a total of nine inches. The bottom layer is carved to accommodate electrical conduit, then the middle layer is glued with staggered joints and screwed through the bottom layer to the deck. The third layer is the glued down, then the vinyl membrane is glued down, and the seams heated to weld them into a continuous sheet. LEED requires a light roof color, so all the exposed roof membrane will be tan. However, since the white vinyl is cheaper by three cents per square foot, we are using the white stuff wherever it will be covered by plants.GeothermalThe drilling will be done Friday. Then on Monday March 31, we dig a big trench to put all the connections for the geothermal field six feet under. For the next two weeks our parking will be limited to the row at the south edge of the parking lot. Watch for further information, but the best strategy is to arrange for drop offs, carpool, and park as far away as you can stand to walk.InsideThe ice is breaking up, and with the snow cover, the frost is not as deep as it could be. We have a mockup of the balcony to look at chair placement. The balcony railing will be more aesthetic than the current wood model which is there just for dimensionsComing SoonFacilities Forum this Saturday
