A MOTION was made by Kathy Luker to approve the minutes from July 2006 (Exhibit 1).  The motion as seconded by Chris Glueck and the motion CARRIED.

A MOTION was made to approve the Naming Rights policy.  (Exhibit 2)  The motion CARRIED.

Ratification of new facilities charter.

The ratification of the new facilities charter was tabled because we do not have the people here to discuss it who need to be here.

Advisory items

Status of project manager.

It was reported that we have received only one application so far for this position.  This will place a large burden on Susan Koenig as she tries to handle her normal administrative duties and manage the project in the absence of a project coordinator.  Really much Society work is currently being handled in the form of a triage decision making process, which is not ideal.  We need to recognize that Susan may have to work primarily as a project manager for the current time and other administrative work will get done on a less than complete basis.

Discussion of Organizational Chart

Pat has discussed the organizational chart with many people and she is getting a wide variety of feedback.  Since the board is not involved in operations, the councils and staff will handle operations.  The board council liaison has a duty to guide the councils as they work toward goals set by the board and foster good communications.  Yet the liaison should not interfere with the staff relationships with their respective councils to the extent that the staff and council relationship is the primary operational relationship between the staff member and the council.

We will continue to try to write good wording to pull this together.  There will be a report back to the Board in December.  The following pairs of liaisons and councils are the assignments at this time:

Barb Avery – Religious Education
Kathy Luker – Social Justice
John Mathis – Worship
Chris Glueck - Operations
Nancy Kosseff – Connections
Jim Christensen - Financials
